About Me

I am a 30 year old; Mum, teacher, book enthusiast and self-confessed geek.

My love of books started when I was around 4 years old (apparently). My Mum knew the importance of reading to and with a child so was always keen to get me in to reading from an early age. She provided me with as many books as possible during my early years and I always soaked them up like a sponge and desperately wanted another as soon as I was finished.

I sometimes wonder if my obsession with books came from always having so many reading opportunities when I was younger but then again, I also think that you either enjoy reading or you don’t. I have tried persistently to encourage my son to read as much as possible and although he does occasionally read and seems to enjoy it, I don’t think he will ever take it as seriously as I do!

All the way though school, I never had my head out of a book. I became a proficient speller and was infamous for being able to spell most words that were asked of me. My nan, to this day, still calls me when she wants to double check a spelling…bless her. When I went to college, I naturally studied literature which I thoroughly enjoyed and at university, my degree was in combined literature and linguistics.

I then did a post graduate degree in Primary Teaching which was the best decision I ever made. I now work with 6 year olds and I am able to push my love of reading on to them as much as possible and it is actually encouraged! So much so, that I was actually given the incredible responsibility of being in charge of the Reading subject across my whole school. I was overjoyed on that day.

Now, as an adult, I am as obsessed with books as I was when I was a child. If not, more so. I find reading is the answer to anything in life….Are you sad? Read a book. Feeling happy? Read a book. It is perfect for any season and there is a book for any occasion or emotion! Plus, it makes tea and coffee taste sooo much better!

So I decided to start this blog to share with other people all the things literature based which make me so happy. Be it reviews, up and coming authors, reviews of books or just my own thoughts about literature related topics.

I hope some of the content here at least brings a smile to your face 🙂 Maybe I can even convert some more followers to the way of the paperback! (or kindle as explored in my blog).

Thank you for visiting and feel free to get in touch!
